Our Core Values

At the heart of Hurle-Vent’s fundamental values is the fact that it is a family-owned business. Most importantly, its everyday operations are run by the owners themselves.

In other words, you can rest assured that your dog is looked after by the people who have the kennel’s business model at heart.

Another vital part at the core of Hurle-Vent’s mission are the owners, Chanel and Kris, who are passionate about dogs and their wellbeing.

After all, they made the move from big city to small town country, all for the love of dogs and a strong belief in what Sylvain had started. That speaks volumes about the reassurance Chanel and Kris wish to offer when you choose Le Hurle-Vent in your absence.

The Kennel

Our priority when you entrust us with your dog is to make sure that he/she is comfortably settled in, relaxed and feels at home; it is important to us that you feel confident in your absence. We receive dogs of all breeds, year-round, in a natural and safe environment.

We are specialized in hosting large dog breeds and hunting dogs. However, we are fully equipped to welcome dogs of all sizes and energy levels. From a small, timid chihuahua to a large excited labrador, each dog has a space at their disposal that is adapted to their varying needs.

Our mission is to make sure your dog feels like he is on vacation as well!

In good weather, the dogs are taken to a grassy park dotted with trees. For every dog that we take on, we take the time to carefully evaluate their personality and habits. For the social dogs, they spend part of the day playing with other companions who are well-matched for them. If your dog is uncomfortable around other dogs, or simply prefers to relax on their own, we will have a space where your dog can enjoy his time outdoors and play with the staff in peace.

Your dog will be let out regularly to do his business in specifically designated areas. This way, you can rest assured he/she will not lose their good habits of cleanliness. The interior pens are spacious in size, subject to regular upkeep and include bunks.

Our Story

Welcome to Le Hurle-Vent Kennel!

Le Hurle-Vent was founded by Sylvain Faucher, a well-known canine trainer. Sylvain was passionate about the behavior and development of dogs of all breeds. He was also well respected in the dog training community with numerous awards. His passion for training began in 1987, but his unconditional love for dogs led him to expand his services to found a kennel: Le Hurle-Vent as we know it today.

Unfortunately, Sylvain passed away in 2017 and the kennel had been looking for a new owner ever since. When Chanel Brosseau and Kris Derome Low got wind of this opportunity, the reflection was short-lived to say yes to this project. In the past, they knew Sylvain several years before his death. They had the pleasure of working with him as a trainer for their Dublin dog, a St-Hubert. Then, a great friendship developed thereafter. From now on, if you see a St-Hubert walking around the Hurle-Vent scene, it's probably the beautiful Dublin that makes sure everything goes well. Sylvain loved working with Dublin, but he also developed a special bond with his masters. Then, Chanel and Kris also got closer to his wife Mireille, who was still very involved in the operation of the kennel. This relationship played an important role and that is why the new owners wanted to ensure that the core values of Le Hurle-Vent remained in place for years to come. In fact, during the transition with the new owners, Chanel spent several weeks working, side by side, with Mireille to learn all about the operations of Le Hurle-Vent.
